2014 – 2018 the Project ”First SKATEPARK in Satu Mare Municipality”

Goal:                                                     Ensuring the possibility of spending leisure time for approximately 100-150 children who are amateurs in practicing outdoor sports

In 2014, the Rotary Club of Satu Mare proposed to the City Hall of Satu Mare to join for the development of the first SKATEPARK in Satu Mare for practicing outdoor sports (skateboard, rollerskate, bmx etc.), the proposed location being the well-known UFO Park in the neighborhood Micro 17.

The commitment of the Rotary Club was to provide special equipment for the exercise of these sports activities (pipe, halfpipe, etc.) worth approximately 20,000 EUR and to assemble them, the City Hall undertaking to design the space, casting the concrete surface and ensuring safety conditions practicing the sport on landscaped grounds.

Estimated impact of the investment:

• Moving young people who are practicing modern sports on the New Center plateau, on the stairs in front of the House of Culture or other inappropriate and even dangerous places for such activities to the newly arranged space
• Ensuring the possibility of spending free time in safety conditions for approximately 100 – 150 children who are amateurs in practicing these sports, respectively for about 20 – 25 professionals
• More than 100 families (especially parents) who will be able to leave their children on the playgroung, knowing they are safe
• Sustainable investment, accessible at no cost to all those interested.

20,000 EUR was raised by the Rotary Club with the support of generous donors and sponsors who supported the Club’s initiative on charity balls in two consecutive Rotarian Years, 2014 and 2015.

After allocating the necessary funds for land improvement, in the mid of 2018 the City Hall Satu Mare started the contracting and implementation of the construction and rehabilitation works, while the Rotary Club started the purchase of the necessary elements / parts.

The construction of SKATEPARK was completed in December 2018.
