2016 – 2017 the Project ” Modernization of the Histopathology Laboratory of the Emergency County Hospital of Satu Mare”

Date / Period:                                 01 December 2016 – 30 April 2017

Goal:                                                     Increasing the quality of the medical activity within the Satu Mare County Emergency Hospital by accelerating the process of obtaining histopathological results for patients and increasing the chances of healing

In 2016, the Rotary Club of Satu Mare applied for a Global Grant (a form of funding the local initiatives of Rotary club community) at the Rotary International Foundation to support the work of the Department of Histopathology of the Emergency Hospital in Satu Mare County in order to improve the services offered to patients suspected of cancer.

Having won the project, Rotary Satu Mare acquired and donated to the County Hospital a set of three devices amounting $ 40,000 (a tissue analyzer, a microtome and a blade coloring machine), thus helping to reduce waiting times for diagnosing  patients suspected of having cancer, from 10-12 to 3-5 days.

The final beneficiaries of the project are those more than 5,000 patients (each calendar year) who need tests of samples of potentially cancerous tissues.

The Rotary Club partners in this project were:

  • Rotary Club Oklahoma (USA)
  • Oklahoma District (USA)
  • Romania District and  Republic of  Moldavia
  • Rotary International Foundation

$ 15,000 – the contribution of the Rotary Satu Mare was gathered by the Club with the support of generous donors and sponsors (Link to sponsors’ page – 2016-2017) who supported our initiative at the Rotarian Charity Ball 2016-2017.
