2016 – 2018 The Project ”Promenade of the Hearts” – 3 editions: 2016, 2017 and 2018
Date / Period: 29 September 2016, 2017, 2018 – World Heart Day
Goal: Bring awareness on the need to prevent cardiovascular disease, as these are the major cause of death and disability in Europe
The Romanian Heart Foundation and the Romanian Society of Cardiology, in partnership with the National Prevention Forum, Athletic Cardio Club and Rotary District 2241, have been launching each year since 2014 the Promenade of the Hearts – a project to develop an accessible route that aims to encourage people to do sport as a means of preventing cardiovascular disease. In 2014, 32 cities in the country plus the capital of Moldavia, Chisinau, joined the Heart Promenade.
The program was initiated by the Irish Heart Foundation and has already been successfully implemented in 10 European countries.
In each of the three years of joining this regional project, the Rotary Club of Satu Mare mobilized between 50 and 350 people in Satu Mare during the World Heart Day events in free movement (cycling, running, walking on the dam, street sports, etc.) to promote the importance of physical movement.
There were schools, sports NGOs, institutions and individuals from the city, the total number of participants in the three years being about 450 people. There were sports events, first aid courses, training sessions as well as cycling and running races.
