2019 –”The Rotary Medical Caravan”

Main objective:                                 Providing free healthcare to disadvantaged people in rural areas            

In 2019, Rotary Satu Mare is implementing the second edition of “The Rotary Medical Caravan”. Within this project, volunteer doctors from Satu Mare County travel with a mobile medical cabinet (made available to our Club by the Rotarian Friends from Rotary Club ”Floare de colţ” Abrud, endowed with medical devices such as ultrasound, ECG, devices for dermoscopy, ophthalmoscope, tonometer, stethoscope, spirometer, glucometer, medical intervention kit etc.) in isolated communities in Satu Mare County to perform medical consultations, especially targeted to people who cannot travel to medical centers in the city.

In 2017, during 8 sessions in various communes in Satu Mare County, 176 people were investigated, out of which 41 children. Within the investigations, two medical emergencies were immediately directed to the Emergency Unit at the Satu Mare County Emergency Hospital, and 6 children were directed to complementary investigations.

All the cost related to this activity are covered by Satu Mare Rotary Club from its own budget. Doctors participating in the project work as volunteers.
